Lightbulb Urgent Request for Baleno info

      Dears,

Suspension of my 2006 Baleno Lxi has worn off.

According to MASS lower arms, shocks and what not needs to be replaced and there cost is approx. 60K. They will be using all genuine parts which they claim will come from Japan or from Maruti Udyog at Gurgaon.

As the cost is too high, can someone guide me please if any other options are available, and if possible at what cost.

Please also share contact details of mechanics in Mumbai who can really help in this matter.

Thanks a lot and happy driving

You can get bushes and get a lathe to replace them. You can get shocks from outside - will be cheaper. mclaren1885 will be able to shed more light on this.

      Thanks kb

I didn't know that bushes can be replaced on lower arms.

Suggest which bush set shall i use and from where to get lathe work done.

If this alternative works then why does MASS not recommend it?

Majority of the Baleno parts from Suzuki are SGP (Suzuki Genuine Parts) which come from Japan and not MGP (Maruti Genuine Parts) that are made in India.

You have plenty of local options available for all the parts for the Baleno in India at a significantly lower price.

I am running TRW suspension on my Baleno and nearly all the other parts you mentioned changed and IIRC it was much cheaper than what you quoted from Maruti.

Please beware of aftermarket lower arms. I put in aftermarket lower arms last year after taking advice from a lotta baleno owners.. A few months and about 500kms down the line, I hit a small pothole/undulation doing about 100 on the highway, the lower arms just snapped like a twig and the car fell flat on its belly.
Insurance wanted me to claim total loss but since I spent a lot on the turbo setup, I decided to go ahead with the repairs and try convincing the surveyor to approve at least a small part of the repairs. I spent about 80k on this and the insurance refunded around 28-30k. This time I used SGP/MGP. All this on a car with IDV of 1.5L.

Hhhhmm, weird! Must be either some really low quality stuff that you got or it was the impact that caused the damage. I've changed my lower arms and the car has been put through a lot of rough use, no issues so far. Maybe yours was just a one off case or a case of severe bad luck?

On a modified car you are lucky to get any insurance at all. Technically insurance can be refused for any modified car were modifications are not endorsed in the RC book.

Possibly the case. Sheer bad luck, I guess!

EDIT: I picked the lower arms from JK Automobiles in Blore.

I am also looking to get the suspension changed. How much would a complete overhaul cost if the TRW's are used?
