IIRC what I found in the catalogue when buying Verna in 2010, only the SX (top end) varient was equipped with an immobiliser.

Mine is also SX variant, but 2007 model; couldn't find a catalog for this one though.

Guys tell me this. Car has run almost 85K kms [75% of it in highways], power delivery is still crisp, also i'm getting good mileage figures. Would it be worth spending this 70K now, provided that I will be owning the car atleast for an year from now.

What is the highest KM owned with this car/1.5 Crdi? Is spending 70K worth?

If your car does not have an immobiliser. And if swapping with another ECU works just fine, try to get in touch with the local gujri (used spares market). You should definitely find some spare ECUs from crashed cars and they will cost a fraction of the cost. To be on the safer side, negotiate a deal where they will swap the ECU, make sure it works and then you pay the money!

I have seen examples that have crossed 2L, and the only thing that failed during that period was the turbo.

But anyway, pick up a used one from a crashed car or something, should work out to be much cheaper...

First Gen Verna didn't came with Immobilizer. SX trim only had the Anti-theft alarm.

Now all he has to do is go to the A.S.S and convince the SA

Surely many waterlogged verna's and easily TL'd. Only thing would be to see if ecu is still ok and not damaged due to floods.

Remove the ECU and check the pins. Have seen a verna and a i20 ecu with corroded pins that broke off. The pins were stuck inside the ECU coupler. Showroom wanted 70k to fix it. Ended up taking out a separate wire from the ECU and wiring it in the harness directly. Do remember, the ECU will no longer be waterproof. You can use a zip lock bag and cover the ecu. Do it only if you cant afford 70k for a new ecu.

I'm trying. My mechanic is actually unable to locate one for my car. He says it will take time as it is a crucial part.
