      Angry Ah, the pain.

      hey guys.

As you might know, I own a white XUV 500 W8 FWD. some 25 thousand kilometres later, I see fit that I inform you of all the pain the car has given me.

      The good-

      Presence.
POWERRRRRR. Never thought 330 newtons would be so fun.
      Styling.
Made in India. I'm with you, Mr Modi.
      Mechanical reliability

      The bad-

      Reliability of electronics and ICE
      Sh***y audio quality.

      The pain-

since taking delivery of the car, the XUV has barely reported any mechanical failures, which will make me recommend it to anyone who does not want big ticket repairs every 5k kilometres or so.
      one of them was-
#the alignment- they took four attempts and could't fix it until dad turned the place upside down.

however, the electronics are much more than worse. In my case-
#the ICE ate one of my CD's
#the wiring harness went bust(or maybe the 'board).
#the key and lock mechanism has been replaced once already.
#the front left speaker looks like its near the end of its life.
#the airbag module has been reflashed(recall?)

but since the car is under warranty, no sweat. Any one else who has seen their beloved XUV give them so much trouble?

My XUV also had similar issues.

      1) Rear Left door power window motor went kaput in the very first month
      2) Front & rear wiper motor replaced in 2nd & 3rd service respectively
      3) Replaced 6 pairs of Bulbs in 1 year until Mahindra came up with a so called Long life bulb. Fed up with that I switched to After market Philips Xtreme vision bulbs until all was well
      4) Airbag retraction spring went kaput & it was not accepted to be changed in warranty. Replaced it by paying from my pocket.
      5) A/C floor coil went kaput & was replaced in warranty during my 50K service interval & now it unleashed a can of worms. Dashboard rattle, blower motor went kaput, ACC Blower fuse getting blown often, AC water getting collected on floor rather than dripping on the floor.

BTW mine has run 78K kms & mine is a 2012 model.

In fact, you aren't alone in this. We get a lot of clients at the shop who show up with failed XUV OEM HUs or speakers and in some cases the company has replaced HUs 2 or 3 times and all have failed with time. That is one of the main reasons clients come to us to get an aftermarket HU installed from us in the XUV500 even though the costs are high. Basically they are fed up of going to the showroom to have things rectified and want a non-OEM solution once and for all.

See if any installer in your city can do something like this, it will improve the sound quality by leaps and bounds and also let you breathe in peace with no HU failures that are so common with the XUV500.

Power, you bet! beats most Indianized German premiums

Issues are a plenty. Here's a small list-

      1. Infotainment Silverbox replaced thrice and HMI once. Restarts/Hangs NOT solved.

      2. Clutch Failure ( Slave cylinder issue)

      3. Driver side power window motor

      4. AC discharge pipe leaked

      5. Reverse horn/ Hooter Failed

      6. Turbo Blown at 60k Kms!!!!

      7. Low beam projector knocked off (Physically) Once.

      8. Underbody guard was misplaced by SVC. They gave new one.

All these were covered in warranty.
Recenty, Cabin Light only half part is lit. Not covered in warranty.

Navigator (FL) speaker is rattling. Could not be diagnosed well by SVC.

Turbo blown? How do you blow a turbo?

And then the brakes. 50k kms and they are at the end of their life. The dzire, in retrospect has hit 77 ks and still brakes hard.

They weren't kidding when they said the car was cheap
