Every F1 driver is only as good as his car is/was during that particular season. If you want to really know who is the best, put them all in similar cars ala GP2 or any other feeder series to F1 where they use the same chassis, engine and aero package.

Just look at whats happening to MS now. Button sprang a surprise and won the WDC with a relatively unknown team. And the Red Bulls further prove the same that you need a good car to be able to fight for the top honours in F1.

I don't have a "favourite" F1 driver tag as such, but I usually like to support the team/driver that constantly springs a surprise and gives it their best. So not surprised that I was a big fan of Mika, then MS, Ralph Schumacher (I just love underdogs), JPM, Kimi, Button, Vettel and now Webber. I would rate them all 8/10.

I never particularly like Alonso, Coulthard, Massa that much. I am sure they are as talented as the rest, but I would rate them 7/10.

If there are a few drivers I would give a higher rating than 8, it would have to go to Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna, Jackie Stewart, Juan Manuel Fangio & Giles Villeneuve. I think those were the real drivers of F1. They drove at a time there was no carbon fibre monocoques, fancy electronics and all that jazz. And needless to say, they provided the best racing F1 has ever seen.

Another very good driver who never got due credit was Jacques Villeneuve. He was extremely talented, but never got the right car to add to his 1 WDC title. And poor old Rubens must be the unluckiest driver in the history of F1.

To me it doesn't matter who wins, just that the race has to be well fought. And no cribbing & crying after losing please....

How come Senna is missing, or is it already a decade since he passed away!

San Marino GP 1994. Been quite a while. I wish he had survived that crash.

All time best drivers --> Jim Clark, Giles Villeneuve.

Specifically if you want 2000 to 2010, then obviously you have the usual suspects.

MS - He is really a awesome driver. Sometimes questionable ethics, still he was something on track. The MS now you see is one at the end of his reign.

Alonso - If you take away his whining etc, one of the best drivers out there. Can really get even a slower car up the grid.

Hamilton - Another one who is an excellent driver, but slightly error prone and slightly harder on the tyres.

Kimi - The Enigma this decade. Devastatingly fast when he wants, as 2005 showed. But dedication in doubt. Very much possibly the fastest driver this decade.

Button, Massa, Kubica, Vettel are still atleast one rung below these drivers. Interesting years ahead

Michael Schumacher: anytime. i still remember the Ferrari 1-2 finishes and the kind of monopoly they had on track - almost boring predictable results everytime and i loved it

Has to be MS. remember that old Bernie worked for almost five years with a one point agenda - Stop Schumi. Did not succeed much though.

I agree Michael Schumacher is a great driver, but only as long as he has a car that suits his driving style. As you can see this season, even with all the talent and experience he has, his team mate Nico Rosberg is constantly out performing him.

MS. F1 is so boring with him not being around.

Ps. I know he is "back", but as you all know, it never is the same. Wish he had stayed away.
