Operation Clear View - wiper marks & swirl removal from glass

      Hi folks

      Been inactive for long,

Anyway, presenting to you 2 cases in one:

      1. Persisting with wiper blades that are long past their prime

      2. Using amateur techniques to remedy damage caused by bad wiper blades that have actually worsened the driver`s line of vision

Torn wiper blades or wipers missing the rubber blade edge can often leave deep scratches along with streaks on your windshield. These scratches will be just as distracting as streaks. They will reflect sunlight and headlight beams from oncoming traffic. Scratches will definitely obstruct vision, making driving more dangerous. However, it is important to remember that damage can occur any time a repair is not done correctly, making vision still more obstructed.

      Letting the pics speak:

Front glass: water spotting and swirls

water spots removal gone from bad to worse

      swirled glass

      close-up of damage caused

      can u see through?

The result of using inappropriate products, tools and techniques to remove wiper scratches

From inside.....clarity or a lack of?

      closer

Worse still, during a rainy day or night when facing headlight beams from oncoming vehicles

Close-up: wiper scratches have been left intact while new scratches have been instilled

Rear glass: heavy water spotting from acid rain/ wrong maintenance

      Close-up

      TA DA

      Sealing the whole work

Sealing for a wiper free drive

Wiping after curing, we`re grateful to Almighty, all scratches gone and clarity restored

Mirror, Mirror! Where are the water spots

      Can you see through?

Thanks for viewing. Your thoughts and questions are most welcome

Well...I have a question...I changed 3 OEM wiper blades in my XUV500 W10 in a span of less then one year...twice they changed free of cost even now it leaves streaks, I am fed with that and ASS has no answer for this. Does any one else also have streaks problem with new blades? will try and upload pics of that. Secondly I feel the rubber is good but something is wrong, no matter how best I clean the blade the streaks are there. Any remedy?

Thats because of water used in the wiper tank, most of the times we use shampoo and not the actual liquid meant for windshield
If you don't find the liquid at MASS then try maruti

try claying the glass, if there is oily film on glass wipers will streak.

No its not shampoo, its the OEM liquid meant for the purpose which has been added in wiper wash tank. it happens with rains too. wipers are new, rubber is good..however while wiping the windscreen it leaves water streakes on the windshield. there are no scratches or swirls or marks on the wind screen.

If the glass is just cloudy or appears dull or has water spots simply spray a 50:50 white vinegar diluted with water, let it sit for 30 - 60 secs, buff off and rinse. Repeat a couple of times. This will leave the glass sparkling clean and clear. If you do believe your glass is scratched, you will need to polish off using products like Ceriglass but often unnecessary.

      Hello,

I think the windsheild is contaminated. Try claybar, vinegar or IPA and if none of these help, you have to get Cerium Oxide that is used to polish glasses.

Carpro Ceriglass costs more and its only worth for removing swirls. I have used it (Here is the details) to remove wiperblade, machine swirls on windshield and its pretty good at that.

You can either go for cerium oxide of 250g available in Amazon India for Rs. 350. Put a little cerium oxide on dump foam pad or microfiber cloth and gently rub on the windshield. Do one section a time and keep the glass wet.

Or you can buy Proklear NGS, which comes with pure cerium oxide (aka precleaner).

      Thanks...
      Best Regards

I am not very sure if what you say is correct...as I have changed 3 sets of wiper blades...first month or so they are good, leaves no streaks, but after some time it starts leaving these streaks. The glass is absolutely clear, no swirls or scratches at all. The car is just 16 months old. I have also cleaned it with vinegar, colin, lemon, newspaper. I feel the there's something wrong with the rubber of wipers, all purchased or replaced from showroom. Perhaps they all are from same batch, unfortunately the packing is not available to verify that. This is the reason I had asked if any one else is having this problem.
