VW Rear View Mirror rattle, how to fix?

It seems like a complicated piece of equipment as it is glued to the windscreen. It also houses the rain sensor. The plastic seems cheap and the rattles are annoying me. Anybody tried double sided tape or any glue? Did it help?

I wasted entire last week as VW Service held my car to fix a rattle in the rear seat. At least the VW Palace Cross service experience was shocking. They couldn't find the root cause over 5 days and said the noise is gone 90%. It's still there. Hence, not going to waste time at VW Service anymore.

      Need a DIY fix.

Live with it is what I'd say. We do use some soft padding sometimes to arrest the rattles when the subwoofers kick in. Sometimes it's a hit, sometimes it's a miss.

      Thanks, Bud.

My pre-frontal cortex is unable to live with such things. I will try some double sided tape. It that don't work, can I rip the entire rear view mirror off? Will get an after market rear view mirror installed, don't care about rain sensing or auto dimming features.

is it possible to remove the mirror on a Vento and put soft foam/tape under it as shown in this video? I hope there are no wires or anything underneath.

You twist the mirror to get it out. I dont remember if it is to the left or right but I think to the left.
