Xm2s thread got cracks- suspecting low air pressure run

I had a 640kms highway run from Bangalore to Kottayam last day.

Due to busy office schedules i couldnt recheck the tyre preassure before i started. Its was kept to 33 few weeks back and i thought it was fine as no visible difference was there.

The ride was felt less bumpy, i knew air was less but didnt felt that much low.

Car was pulling fine and i was driving as usual. There werent much bad roads but the usual rough patches in Palaghat Thrissur area due to roadworks.

Took turn from Perumbavoor to Kottayam. After Moovatupuzha there were many winding stretches but the road is new. The irritating stuff was so many reflectors placed across, a needed thing in night drive, but i felt like its over used in this road.

I was doing a little faster cornering in 40s to 60s . Between i stopped a little and found the rear left tire lost preassure considerably. I suspected a puncture and did refill to 33 to observe after i reach home. Air is holding till now in it and am assuming there ain't a puncture.

Attached are the photos of some cracks i saw in all tyres after this drive.

Am suspecting two things or both which caused this to the XM2s.

The low preassure highway run, or the widespread reflector use on Moovatupuzha Kottayam road for night signalling.

Also can be a combined effect, a low preassure XM2 ran over reflectors plus the hard cornerings done.

How serious are those thread damage. Is it anything i need to worry about?

Tyre is in good condition for a 40k usage. Looks like you can use it for another 5-10k kms. The damage is because of reflectors or poor roads. Just check the tyres once in a week for serious damage.

Yes. I suspect both the low preassure and the road.

The road is new but lot of reflector usage which keeps giving you that thud sound continuously.

As the preassure was low seems the left back tyre got sidewall stretched more on cornering and it may have lead to airloss.

Cracks are continuous along those outer line of threads. Couldnt check the inner thread line. I think time to get the tyres checked before i return to bangalore.

No worry with that tyre. Btw, 40k and so much tread. That's good to see.

Yes. its used for mainly highway rides plus ghat rides. Not into any offroading.
And no adventurous drives and wheelings like you guys do

Highways i does gradual speed increase and advanced slow multiple breakings before the point of stopping. Kinda anticipatory drive. Rarely had some hard stoppings but it was there couple of times.

And one of this tyre blasted while i was doing 130s to 140 and vehicle was overloaded with 5 people and filled up boot. It is a puncture due to metal piece according to the michelline eng who checked it.

Warranty denied saying its a puncture but offered 50 pcnt off if i purchase new tyre.
I couldnt exactly find the reason of that puncture yet. Its running with a 9 inch mushroom fix now and still running good. Tyre ran some 300 mts after it had lost air that day and that circular mark is still on its side wall.

Overall i feel XM2s are good and strong eventhough its considered soft rubber. I changed to XM2 s to reduce roadnoise, but i still feels roadnoise is there.

Soft compound tyres like the XM2s usually have these costs when driven on our roads. Nothing to worry about, if it's on the top layer.

Yes seems top layer only. And no issues as i just had a 90 km run. Got concerned because it was the first time am seeing those kinda cracks on thread, that too after a highway run. It has taken worst village roads than a highway before, but every time before a long drive i used to check them and keep preassure to 33. This time i missed.

Those cracks haven't happened over a single drive. This has happened over a period of time.
