Better buy used ertiga, honda service and spares are costly and also the service centres are few and crowded.

It would help the member's if you could share your thoughts and reasoning behind this. As you have specifically mentioned only mobilio, I assume you must have done some good homework. Do share your thoughts and consideration and specifically your requirements besides that you need a 6/7 seater

      Not true at all
Honda service and parts is not costly at all
Even in 8th year of ownership, I barely pay anything for maintenance of my City 3rd gen IVTEC

If anything, Honda parts reliability etc has the edge over Maruti in many ways

Same engine is present in Petrol Mobilio IVTEC so I pretty much know what Im talking about

My brother owns Brezza VDI and prior to this, we owned 3 Ritz VDIs

So Ive had a taste of both in a way given the shared engines

Service quality of Honda is anyday better than Maruti however Maruti's MGP makes things a little easier for an FNG if ever needed
That said Honda is clearly superior in engine, rattles over a period of time

Im no fan of the Brio platform cars such as Mobilio but 1.5 IVTEC itself is enough to prove its the better car here
Mileage of IVTEC is not as good as Ertiga's 1.3 MJD/DDIS diesel or 1.4 K14 petrol
IDTEC is certainly a noisy, unrefined engine albeit with a smooth clutch
Seats of Ertiga are better in front than Mobilio

But given 7 seater is a priority, 1.5 IVTEC is a very powerful engine and there is a stark difference specially when the cars are loaded
Mobilio will just fly through ghat sections etc compared to Ertiga- regardless of petrol or diesel engines in either case

In terms of after sales, reliability - brands such as Maruti,Honda, Hyundai and Toyota are #1 and you cannot really call one better or worse than the other, they all have their own sets of pros and cons (Ford nearly makes it too off late, slight more to go)

It is definitely a big car but I think BRV has replaced it although they do not consider it as a MPV. Service, parts should not be a problem though. It depends on the used car condition and price mainly. You can also consider old Innova. I am not sure Ertiga is as big as these cars?

BRV is basically a facelifted Mobilio
Innova will be expensive in the used market and many of them have rolled back odometers given the tourist taxi market(I had a tough time selling mine since people are more suspicious when it comes to Innova, couldnt believe the 80k km reading)
Ertiga and Mobilio are same size

Parts are no stress with Honda, even my 10 year old 2007 CRV(now sold) still had parts and cheap maintenance until I sold it (bought Tucson diesel now)

Mobilio's engine is far better than Ertiga's and the other advantages the car has are reliable Honda brand and service.
Now when you come to Ertiga there are many pros
      1. Reliable service network (Not at par on quality of service when compared with Honda)
      2. Reliable engine with a decent performance
      3. Decent mileage, definitely out performs all others in this segment
      4. Trustworthy branding which can fetch a decent resale value
      5. Cost of ownership right from day 1 will be cheaper than Mobilio

A new model is on it's and looks promising than the existing one. If you spare few more bucks go for the new Ertiga. Best wishes on your ride hunting
