      New clutch.

My original factory clutch has been replaced in Poland today at 345,000km. The DMF was not worn and the guy said he would have only replaced the friction plate and polished the pressure plate.
The friction plate still had about 1/2 mm of material left over the rivets, good for another 50,000 km.

Dentist in Romania, clutch in Poland, picnic in Finland and reside in Norway! Man, you are indeed an enigma. Love your free wheeling journeys. The 345,000 is just an astonishing number for a clutch. I am amazed!

The cost of labour in Poland was the surprise. When I made the appointment the guy told me 350 zloty for the labour to fit a complete clutch that i provided. Did I lose something in the language barrier so I called a friend of mine and asked her to confirm and she did. They wanted the car for the whole day and it would cost me 350 zloty which is 81 euros or 6,759.48 rupees. In Norway, it will cost me as much to wash my car.
This would have been cheaper than Mumbai. When I went to collect the car I was handed a bill for 350 zty. The price in Romania was 37,456.45
      INR
I did tip a young boy who did the dirty work on my car like removal of components with 7 euros.

The new clutch is working fine and I can accelerate without fear of the clutch slipping but I never floor the accelerator to be easy on the DMF. The biggest difference is that the clutch is so much lighter and at first thought that the guy had forgotten to bleed the system.
I used 800 euros of fuel and 500 euros for the apartment in Bucharest and hotels on the way. In total, the trip cost me the same I would have paid in labour charges just to replace the clutch in Norway.

Old vehicles were so much better built than the cars of today !! Clutch change at 345k km is indeed a testament !!
Even most car enthusiasts agree that W124 was one of the last Germans which would stand the test of time and easy to maintain etc

Your VW is very very immaculate !! Would be interesting to see it cross say 1000k km
