Honda targets to sell 30,000 units of the CBR250

Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcyle and Scooters said they are targeting to sell 30,000 units of its latest 250cc global sports bike CBR-250R in India in the first year.

The company launched the 250cc bike with very aggressive pricing and is a tad cheaper to its nearest competitor.

The motorcycle was exclusively manufactured in India and Thailand and is claimed to be the first bike in 250cc category to have a combine Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). Well the Indian Manufacturer TVS can claim the same in the 180cc category.

The target set by Honda is quite optimistic and we feel the company will able to achieve as the market seen a good demand for high capacity bikes. But the rising fuel prices could be a concern and may make people to re-think before they buy their dream machines.

Honda issues recall for CBR 250!!!

The Honda CBR250R created a big splash when it was launched for an affordable price earlier this year. The 250cc motorcycle, which ticked all the right boxes when it came to the performance and features front has been under the scanner for quite some time now due to various niggles reported by its owners from across the country. Apart from poor quality on some of the parts used, owners have been complaining about inordinate delays in spare parts being available apart from the other big issue of Honda dealers being instructed to stop selling spares over the counter. Finally, recall time it is for the CBR250R.

The first batch of the Honda CBR250R have been the motorcycles that have borne the brunt of inconsistent quality, and Honda has quietly began contacting CBR250R owners for a recall. One of ICB’s readers was also called by Honda dealer to bring is CBR250R in for a so called “check up” in which parts like the grab rails were replaced and the various nuts and bolts of footpegs/mirrors were checked.

ICB reader also notes that the Honda dealer also inspected the “welding of Engine Cowl” for possible defects. Going forward, sorting out the timely availability of spare parts should be Honda’s first concern as this is something that owners of almost all Honda motorcycles and scooters being sold in India seem to face. Also, Honda dealers refusing to sell spare parts over the counter is another issue that begs for regulatory intervention at the earliest. With competition heightening in the 200-250cc motorcycle space, Honda will need to sort out these issues if it intends to maintain its market share in this rapidly growing segment.

Aargee should be knowing what exactly is being replaced and why? If they resolve the spare parts issue and the mechanics improve their knowledge more, I think this will be a very good bike to own.

2012 Honda CBR 250R to get new pearl heron blue triple tone color

The Honda CBR250R which was showcased at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo featured a brand new paint job and it is precisely this motorcycle that will be launched later this month. The 2012 Honda CBR250R with the Pearl Heron Blue triple tone color will be the latest addition to the CBR250R’ range for the Indian market. Incidentally, this color has already been available in the international market for quite a while now. Currently, the Honda CBR250R is available in three dual tone colors, red, silver and black. The new color will come at a premium of INR 1,500.

The CBR250R with the triple tone paint job will a get blue and white fairing while the front mudguard and decals will be in red color. The production of the Honda CBR250R in the new pearl heron blue color has already begun at Honda’s Indian manufacturing unit and a launch in the end of February is likely. Apart from the new color, don’t expect to see the CBR250R get any other major addition or facelift as the motorcycles is barely a year old in the Indian market.

Honda Discontinues Silver Colour On The CBR250R

Honda has discontinued the sword silver metallic colour on the CBR250R. The Japanese automaker recently launched the Honda CBR250R in pearl heron blue tri-colour shade, which looks stunning. The reason for discontinuing the silver colour can be attributed to the lack of popularity of this shade. When Honda initially launched the CBR250R, it was available in red and black colours only and the silver colour was introduced later. The 2012 Honda CBR250R’s are now offered in three colours, with the red and black colours getting 3D emblems. While these changes will certainly not swing buyers towards Honda dealerships, its nice to see Honda altering variants based on customer demand.

The Honda CBR250R is powered by a 250 cc, 4-stroke, 4-valve, liquid cooled engine which produces power of 25 BHP and torque of 23 Nm. Mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the CBR250R reaches a top speed in the region of 150 km/h. The twin spar chassis gives it a good balance of handling and high speed stability, while the optional C-ABS brakes give it one of the best stopping power in its segment. The CBR250R is competing with the KTM Duke 200 with competition only set to get more intense with the arrival of the Hyosung GT250R.
