      lock/unlock chirp!

Not sure if other Verna owners are bothered by this, but the lock/unlock chirp irritates me + i usually return home late in night and my car is parked quite close to neighbors bedroom window! [luckily they have not complained about the noise yet]. I can't understand how can Hyundai miss out on providing a mute option on remote key.

I make sure to use door lock button on driver armrest before closing the door shut - there by muting at least the lock sound [mine is a Diesel Auto SX+ variant - no lock/unlock request sensor on door handle]. But it gets really irritating - our 15 year old wagonR had option of mute lock/unlock.

I don't want to disconnect the Alarm system altogether as suggested by HASS. Only other options seems to be some DIY with time delay relay. There is a connector that feeds the signal to horns and if we can introduce a relay here with around 2 seconds delay I think it'll take care of this issue. I've been looking for automotive time delays in India [online] but couldn't find any. Does anybody have any leads to source the relay? Online options are limited to US [Amazon.com]. Or any other alternative to mute just the lock/unlock chirps will be of great help!

      OT -
As a small kid, I was so fascinated by this lock/unlock sound. Still remember an uncle who used to live in the flat above ours in Bhopal. They bought a Zen LX in early 1999 and got this remote lock installed. This was a latest novelty then. I requested my father quite a lot of times to get this done in our recently bought M800 and he rejected it straight away.

Fast forward to current, I don't like the sound my self. Thankfully, both my recent cars have this factory fitted and doesn't produce the sound while lock/unlock operations. I can understand your irritation bhpistorqintorpm.

Does it not have a manual override? In Suzuki you just lock the driver side with a manual key if you don't like the beep. It locks all doors quietly.

And to boot [for the sake saving costs] we don't have a separate hooter and instead the alarm is connected to car horn :yuck:

None! and there is a Honda [Wrv] that is parked in the same compound and we can lock/unlock without any chirps using the physical key[rather I don't think it has any lock/unlock sound]. If I use my key to unlock the car, alarm starts ringing!

EDIT: If you are referring to physical key for locking the car by Manual Override, yes it can be locked with Key without any chirps [but I lock it from the driver side armrest button before shutting the door to avoid fiddling with key - I've almost never used physical key to lock/unlock cars after M800 ]. Need to check if the car chirps when I use physical key to both lock the car and then unlock.

      Leather Seats

Got the leather seats after more than a month's wait.. was specifically looking for Tan coloured leather. But couldn't get the cloth on door pads covered in leather as that part is riveted to plastic. But anyways i've still got the 4 pieces of leather to cover that area - i'll try a DIY attempt sometime later. For now, here is how seats look:

      laaazy gearbox!

Been driving around in Bangalore traffic for few days now in Verna. One thing I've noticed is gearbox always tries stay in lowest gear possible. It gets kinda annoying when you want to cruise around at 50kmph. Around 50 most of the time GB tries stay in 3rd gear!! I've verified this multiple times by shifting to manual mode[it displays number of gear engaged on dash]. Even in manual mode, GB refuses to upshift when actually there is enough grunt to shift up.

Is this common to all Torque Converters + Diesel Engine combo or unique to Hyudai?

In city mileage is hovering around 10-11 mark and I feel it is due to lazy nature of GB! Yet to check with tankful to tankful method.

Firstly, Congrats on the New Car man. Looks great.

I guess the A.S.S should be able to mute/disable the same through their coding systems.

In VW's you connect the VAGCOM and you can enable/disable.

I'm sure there is something similar in Hyundai too.

I was hoping for similar options but not sure if it exists or HASS is not aware of it. Will anyway try contacting Hyundai and check.
