      My 124 Rebuild

A thread for some information and pictures of my W124 rebuild. What started as repaint project ended by with full rebuild from parts catalog. Posting chassis video till I regroup rest of the stuff, excuse the video quality, video is least of the priority in LoneWolf project.

      Maintenance

I have been maintaining this car myself(DIY) since year 2010-11, mostly around 2014-15 I stopped meddling with it regularly and moved to yearly once fixing. I had new thing to meddle with, MTB that is

In 2017 it was 10 years of ownership, I had made list of things to fix, car needed complete suspension rebuild including brake bleed etc. So I was thinking why not fix everything in this car including long pending battery rust issue which was poorly done @ Sundaram Motors. Didn't have motivation so postponed it indefinitely.

This is how car looked in March 2017

      Trigger - 'The Goat'

Around October 2017 this happened, though you cannot see much damage the rear bumper needed replacement if it had to take another hit.

Yes it is, hey it was your thread that made me post the rebuild, nice car you got there

I see a pattern in what you are doing though , below is my car in 2007 with Brabus(Replica) 17" Wheels.

For our conditions nothing beats sport-line 15" 7J, specially if you want belt this car on bad roads. Both my earlier wheels were bent with in a year, current one has lasted 8 years without much damage. Current wheel came forged from factory till 87, mine is from 88 300E.

W124 front and rear have excellent suspension travel, increasing wheel size without changing springs will eat your fenders and tire.

Now with replacing bumper inevitable I had to change plans for 2018 Summer. Spoke to Sajan, plan was simple take the car home strip everything and get it to Bangalore for painting.

Wow! Never knew someone had Brabus Replicas in India. Of course Brabus wheels were source of inspiration for my current set of wheels.

I have already bought Euro Springs from an Import Scrap W124. Also bought Meyle Spring Pads no.1 for all four springs. Euro spec springs will make the car a bit lower and have more planted handling. Planning to swap in September along with new Brake Pads.
straightpipe has also aquired a E300 Diesel. He has done some awesome mods on the car. Waiting for his thread as well.

Do keep the posts coming. W124 is the new keeda for me.

straightpipe is Mayur from Chandigarh ?

Since you have got the spring already go ahead and let me know how it goes. The struts used for rough road package 124 is same as sport-line, so best setup would have been sport-line springs.

Below is spring and pad chart based on model and weight. Post part numbers of your spring and pads, we can review if setup is good.
