What defect can cause the Dashboard to light up like a christmas tree?

      i10 era 1.1 CNG/Petrol
Recently my car has been acting all weird (possibly an electrical fault is at play)
the car starts fine and runs OK for uncertain duration (unpredictable)
but this thing happens when i am accelerating
      It goes like this:-
      • i accelerate to achieve a good speed as to get into the next gear
      • suddenly the EPS warning light comes on and the steering gets hard
      • the air blowers blow faster like over their limit
      • the handbrake light comes on even though i haven't engaged the handbrakes
      • the oil light also comes on
      • the fuel indicator goes dead
      • the speedometer goes to zero
      • and the odometer shows no digits only back light

all of this happens for a few seconds only (5-10 seconds) and goes away when i decelerate or try to bring the RPM to idle (on purpose)
but all of this repeats itself again sometimes it takes longer and sometimes it does just after say 5-10 seconds and otherwise everything in the car is working fine like always, the AC, the fuel pump etc.

so i try my best to handle the hard steering for the duration though i need to reach my destination anyhow so i don't over-speed only in range of 40-50 KMpH

      what i suspect:-
I feel there is something about the wiring, maybe somewhere the wire is touching the ground
recently i have run the car in deep waters (it's over pouring in Delhi and streets get clogged heavily) so many times i have run into water almost 3 feet deep.

what i have done so far:-

i have tried to disconnect the headlight plugs and its fuse (as i have an aftermarket relay and high watt lamps) but no change.
i have checked all the spark plug leads with a screw driver to check for arching but there is no leakage, even the distributor.

for an effective troubleshoot i need guidance, as where to start
i know i need to take it to the mechanic i have that in mind but can't do that for some days because of my exams
      so please, experts help me.

Heres the answer to your issue. Do not wait for self diagnosis in this case, straight head for ASS. Water can play deadly role in car acting weird. I fee all you can do at preliminary stage is use of WD40 and CRC spray to drive out moisture. Also its related to sensors, I feel, so do not wait. keep us posted

      Sure????
I had nightmares driving even a bigger & heavier car with little over 1 foot depth water. Car started floating at some point of time.

pretty sure its a problem with earthing...check all the earth points under the dash, in the engine bay and in the boot. take off every earth bolt, sand the surface and bolt it back again

Thanks for the diagram reference, 3 feet is "almost" imaginary sorry for that.
But as you drive in a pool of water some of it is pushed away by the movement of the car itself so in that scene I had water up to the floor of the car that means I was well under water up to the height of the tires definitely.
There you have it my exact experience
It was a do or die situation i just wanted the car not to stop and somehow cross the street which was approximately 30-35 meters so in that situation I had no method of measuring the depth, so the idea of "3feet"

      Here's the verdict.
Mechanic/electrician inspected the car and said it's the alternator
It is over producing the current up to 17~ volts instead of 12~ volts
And said you shouldn't drive the car anymore and leave it here I will get a replacement quickly
Otherwise if you drive further it can blow up the battery or fry the steering module

Well for now I haven't given a GO for the repair as I think a new alternator is way too costly I must find a used one first if I can an for the time being the car shouldn't be touched at all.

So is it why whenever I used to accelerate the current goes up and confuses the steering module? Together with it all the dashboard acted crazy? And when decelerate everything goes to normal?

      What do you say?

You don't need a new alternator. You need only a new regulator. A regulator is so cheap that it is worth getting one to see if it cures your problems. Why buy a used alternator when you already have one? With a new regulator, you also get new brushes.

      Yeah... Exactly!!!
That's what I was thinking about but I was reluctant to speak with confidence here because some people dig out silly mistakes in a question instead of offering a simple troubleshoot.

Thanks #Indian I was eagerly waiting for your say on my post, I know you have helped me successfully before too.

So yes I will try replacing the regulator and post about what happens.
