Hesitation in acceleration - Yamaha RX 135 5-speed

      Hello all,

I have been experiencing a unique problem for quite some time now with my Yamaha RX 135 5-speed.

Problem: There is a lag in acceleration as I open the throttle. It feels as though the engine is struggling to reach the speeds though it eventually does but after a lot of struggle (mid range throttle response is poor). The bike does still reach 100-110 kmph but the initial pick up is really delayed. Even though i have an expansion chamber fitted, is of no use.

Background: The engine was completely done up 4 years back. Re-bored to 1.25 or 1.5 (not sure which one). Mostly Top Pro piston (as I was not there during the assembly), new connecting rod, new engine bearings (SKF), new air filter, new steel plates as well as friction plates, new chain sprocket (15 / 38). All other parts are stock such as carburettor , air filter, reed valves etc. (Note: no porting has been done)

Troubleshooting: I already swapped the carb, reed valve, ignition coil with another stock Rx 135 5-speed but the problem persists. The only part I haven't checked is the stator coil.

I would really appreciate if anybody could shed some light if they faced a similar issue and fixed it or could recommend a solution to my problem. My mechanic also has no clue as he recently opened the bore to check if it had any lines but its as good as new.

If you need any additional information please let me know.

      Thanks!

      Have you checked the following

      1. Petrol Tap and Filter - check if its free flowing or some dirt trapped
      2. Hope you have serviced the carb, including Jets and properly jetted for your expansion chamber.
      3. Throttle Cable Check thoroughly, check if the butterfly on carb is fetting fully opened when you open the throttle.
      4. Have you installed and aftermarket CDI - check timing is set properly or not.

Did it run fine on this expansion chamber earlier?
Did you try running it on a stock exhaust or a different EC?

      1. Petrol Tap and Filter - check if its free flowing or some dirt trapped - I haven't checked this but i removed the petrol filter and directly connected to carb to check if it was blocked.
      2. Hope you have serviced the carb, including Jets and properly jetted for your expansion chamber. - Yes, Carb was cleaned and even checked with another carb but issue persisted. It hasn't been re-jetted as my mechanic told it wasn't needed. No porting was done. i have checked with 4 silencers , the catalytic, the steel silencer of rx135 , inbuilt chamber and expansion chamber.
      3. Throttle Cable Check thoroughly, check if the butterfly on carb is fetting fully opened when you open the throttle. - Have checked the cable. Carb again does not seem to be the issue unless i need to tinker with the needle position (currently in middle clip)
      4. Have you installed and aftermarket CDI - check timing is set properly or not. - Stock CDI. The mechanic says the timing cannot be adjusted in Rx. This is the only thing i haven't checked. Could this be the issue?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hasnt been running properly after i completed the engine run in. I have had this bike for 10+ years and this is the first time i'm facing this issue.
With stock or modded exhaust the issue remains the same.

Pls rejet ur carbs, or change the mech - you have to upjet to make it work with the aftermarket chambers. See if it helps!

My mechanic is based out of Hanumanth nagar [near to PES College]. It is quite far for me too but he is a good RD/RX/2 Stroke mechanic [ it's been 3+ years that my bike has seen a mechanic or any kind of service for that matter ]
