As everyone suggested, a manual is a good option with a driver. XUV300 is a pretty comfortable vehicle, but its boot space is small. Marazzo is a good comfortable option with lots of space and can take bad roads very well.

In compact segment, for bad roads I would prefer vehicles in this order - Marazzo (not a compact SUV though), Venue, XUV300, Nexon, Ecosport, Brezza, TUV300. I have/had a Brezza and its suspension is very stiff and can give a jarring experience on continuous stretch of bad roads. TUV300 is very bouncy, but when fully loaded it can withstand bad roads well. Its a rural area fav.

TUV300 Plus adds a lot of space and the 120bhp mHawk engine from Scorpio to the mix. ok.....my list of recommendation is growing and thats how confusing the market can get.
Pretty sure the Venue's a DCT, and not a TC.

Also no idea why you need an automatic when its going to be a driver who's driving. Be it a manual or an automatic, if space + diesel is a criteria, its got to be the nexon.

The DCT is for the 1.0Lt Turbo Petrol.

Anyways, I was mistaken in thinking that the 1.4CRDi had a TC automatic. In fact Hyundai website doesn't show an automatic variant for its diesel!!

Actually, he has been driving vehicles for about 20 years now. All of them have been manual, petrol and diesel both. So this time he has decided to go with automatic. I think he is now leaning towards the amt and will be able to compromise with the amt gear shifts.

If I'm not mistaken, the amt can also be driven in a manual mode right? Again, budget is something that he will have to finalize, so I can't comment on that aspect.

Yes, it can be. And the response is bit better in Manual mode.

Thanks for the confirmation. I also read elsewhere that the trick to driving an AMT is to not floor the pedal; and to let go of the accelerator at the time of an oncoming (anticipated) gear change. I will try this out in my next test drive.

I have only test driven AMT cars, Nexon and Brezza. A very close friend of mine and auto enthusiast own a Dzire AMT. The system kind of learns your driving pattern and becomes smoother. The trick is to teach your shift point to the system in Manual mode and then move to D. And yes, treat the accelerator like in a manual shift and take off the foot at the desired shift point.

Within a km or so or driving an AMT, I was able to make the shifts smoother and I actually enjoyed the city driving experience. Nexon AMT tuning was way better than the Brezza AMT.
