      New Bike - Suggestions

      Hi Guys,

Am fed up of my P-180 which is giving me hell lot of problems.Coupled with the Bajaj ASS i want to sell and buy a new bike ASAP.

Am looking out for bikes in the category of >= 150 CC.The following are some of the options i have shortlisted.

      1) Suzuki GS 150
      2) Yamaha FZ
      3) Yamaha Fazer
      4) Honda Dazzler

I love the P220 but again Its a Bajaj and the ASS is pathetic,R15 in my opinion is not that comfortable.Personally do not like the looks of Karizma ZMR.

      Pls keep the suggestions flowing.

If you are not looking for Fuel efficiency then i would suggest you go for the FZ or FZ-S.

great bike, good power. R15 is also good, but not recommended for daily commuting purpose.

Yep,R15 is not recommended for daily commuting.Am fine with the bike returning anything over 40 KM/LTR.

I have heard from my mechanic that the FE of FZ is 35kms or less. depends on your driving.

what about Honda Unicorn? keep that as an option too.

The Honda dazzler is also good option.

Though I stay neutral on GS150R, just a word of caution - I heard the first lot of GS150R's had a manufacturing defect with the cylinder & 2 of my friends who own them had been replaced with a new one. The bill was about 10K & S.A.S.S did it at free of cost as they were under warranty.

As we speak, both FZ16 & Fazer are proven vehicles in the 160cc segment. There're niggling issues such as the monograms falling off from front back & the sides. Otherwise both of them are capable in the speeds of 120+ with FE around 40-45. However, Y.A.S.S still has room for improvement & these motorcycles are pretty strong for several years.

Has a good review. But still people prefer the old Unicorn over the Dazzler, not sure why. I once rode the old Unicorn & there's absolutely no complaints. The engine noise cannot be heard in idle unless you're in cemetry, the gear shifts are butter smooth. So I guess Dazzler should be the same.

P220 - is serviced only at PBK & I guess PBK is more serious on their customers rather than the regular B.A.S.S, so, IMO, you should be fine. If not for the rattling issues, I simply love the P220 regular one (not the one with projectors).

R15 - It has a leaning ride position otherwise, its the best piece of engineering & technology in this country. But take the 3 weeks challenge & you'll be fine with it too

ZMR - No say as you do not like it. But one positive aspect is that, it has the best riding position & accepted as comfortable touring motorcycle in India. Negative aspect being that HH.A.S.S doesn't sell the spares that easily.

How about RE? Hope you don't like them.

PS - What about RTR 180 or Avenger 220? Or would you want to wait for CBR250R?

+100 to what Ganesh told. Honda Dazzler is fantastic. Even I drove this and I was very happy with the engine response. Just TD it and check it out. The mileage is around 55kmpl.

The max i can stretch is 1 Lac.

      What is RE ?

I have used the RTR 180 and not too keen on going in for the bike.Though it is as fast as the P200 not too keen somehow.

Avenger 220 - It's not that easy to maneuver the bike in Bangalore city traffic as we can in other street bikes.

Even P220 is my favourite but a 4 year old P180 which has done approximately 27000 KM is giving me nightmares. last month the service bill was around 9 K and now again around 2 K.Perfect service records and oil change done every 1500 KM.The quality of spares is pretty bad but the prices are way to high.

      Given the scenario :

      Budget : 1 Lac
      FE : Atleast 40 KM/LTR
      Daily commuting : 35 Km
Comfortable riding position and with decent ride quality.

Looking for a bike which will atleast not give me problems for next 4 years.

Which bike you would settle down for?

Its only a myth; give a test ride if you don't believe. Its a pure comfortable cruiser.

A friend of mine & fellow GH owns a P220 for quite sometime now & has clocked over 60K; you might need to hear his say on P220.

If I were you, I would settle on Kwacker 250R minus budget minus FE & add another 35 Km to daily commuting.

Anyway, in your case, I would say settle for one of R15/P220/ZMR/FZ. As there's no perfect motorcycle, you might need to live with the pros & cons.

All said, Trojan - what's your expectation? You haven't mentioned it anywhere. You've only mentioned what you're capable. By requirement, what I mean is, good looking, top speeds of XX, daily usage mix on city/highway, touring kms & frequency etc.

      RE -> Royal Enfield.

I think you should check out the Unicorn also. FZ, I have heard it struggles after 90kph. I think you should do a test ride and then see.
