      Any computer geeks here?

I have been running the same desktop for the past 9 years on Windows 7. A few weeks ago I upgraded to Windows 10. All went well with the install but if the computer stay turned on, the mouse pointer will freeze after a few hours and I need to shut down and restart.
If I am on youtube I will hear a scraping sound when the mouse pointer freezes. I am connected through a VPN from SurfShark.
The computer is as fast as always. I have the latest BIOS and graphic card updates. Windows is running on a SSD disc. Someone her knows what I can do?
There are no conflicts in Device Manager.

You upgraded form windows 7 to 10 or it was a fresh install?
      A fresh install is recommended.

Which mouse is it? Wireless or wired? which model?

      And which motherboard? Soundcard? GPU?

Primarily looks like driver issue. Seems like the computer is running on windows default drivers but needs dedicated drivers to run well. Better to download the devices sepcific drivers from the hardware maufacturers websites and check.

I did not do a fresh install but upgraded from the Microsoft website from 7 to 10. I use a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard. I think it is the M180 mouse. I am not able to update the drivers from Logytech. Keep getting an error message.
The motherboard is a MSI P55 GD-65 and the GPU is Nvidia GeForce GTX570. I have 2 GPUs. The soundcard is integrated in the motherboard. It should be a RealTek card. I use the live update for the motherboard

I see the MB is too old and no Win10 drivers avalable on the MSI website for it. So in this case using the Windows default drivers will be better.

A fresh and clean install is prefered. If you can easily take backup of your data and get some time then better to do a clean install for better overall system performance.

Is it randomly crashing with absolutely no response? There won't be any logs related to it if you check windows logs reports.
Did you checked everything including latest drivers an hardware and assure that everything is upto its best as it use to be when PC was on Windows 7?

Many times but there is no difference.

I just installed the Nvidia drivers yesterday. The drivers used were for Windows 7. The computer has been on since 9AM and the time is now 18:40 and has not crashed yet.

That is what i have been doing. The updates stopped a few years ago and I dont see the point in replacing the MB.

I might do this if the trouble does not go away.

It just crashes without warning. I have had the blue screen of death once just after i upgraded. The only trouble I had on Windows 7 was the blue screen that would come and go. The drivers were updated on Win 7. I only updated the GPU drivers yesterday for Win 10. That could have been the problem. Must give it a few days.
This computer has had a lightning strike once 10 years ago when the power supply got fried.

Except for the driver issue I don't see any necessity for him to upgrade his PC. It still has got the juice. He has got 8GB of Memory and running on SSD with a i7 processor and a dedicated graphic card. Just because its a bloody software issue it doesn't mean he has to ditch his hardware which is still capable enough.

This could potentially be a trouble maker in the future. Check if the Card is supported on Windows 10 (Which I'm sure it would be), and download a Windows 10 specific driver from here.

You don't have to install special drivers for Keyboard / Mouse unless they've some features assigned to special keys, which is not detected by Windows. IMO if Windows detects your Wireless mouse and it works, stay with it. There could be potentially nothing wrong with your mouse driver. It could be your Graphics driver which could be the culprit.
