I was quoting on XUV. Don't know about the characteristics on Sedans / PS3 in particular.

Someone bought it for corolla and if I remember correctly it was 10K per tyre.

Innova crytsa comes with 205/65/r16 tyres. I have z which comes with r17 but it was from a certain batch so comes with r16.

Rear tyres are going bald and have to replace, but michelin comes only in 215/65/r16. Tyre upsize calculator shows difference of 1.9%.

Is it ok to upsize, what are the merits and demerits?

The difference is 1.9% from stock 16" tyres but grows to 2.7% compared to 215/55R17 that comes with the top trim. This is still acceptable. If you're ready to invest in wider rims, the ideal upsize would be 225/60 R16 with 0.4% variance i (Stock rim can only support upto 215mm width tyre)

      Coming to Cons: 215/65R16

      • City mileage may take a hit
      • Taller tire will flex more thus may affect handling.
      • Wind noise can increase due to taller stance.
      • Initial pickup will be slower
      • Speedometer error

      Pros:

      • Highway mileage will improve at certain speeds but at the same time may get worse than stock size at higher speeds (90km/h+)
      • Better potholes absorption and rim protection due to the taller sidewall
      • Ground clearance up by 8mm

Crysta's wheel wells are huge, so it won't touch the body, I've seen plenty of Crysta's running 215/65R16, 225/55R17 and 216/60R17.

Note: Decrease the tyre pressure by 10% for 215/65R16 (If it's 33 psi cold, fill 30psi), this is because the bigger tyre can actually hold more air and will be able support the car's weight with lower pressure.
