      Film slr

It would be interesting to hear from forum members on their shooting experience with Film SLRs - both manual and AF.

I attach some photos below taken from my Minolta XD-7 (completely manual) and Maxxum 7000 AF SLRs.

Nice to see this thread. These days DSLR's are getting closer to film cameras. I've a film camera, not sure if its DSLR with 28-80 & 70-300 mm lens.

I moved to digital pretty late. Have shot on film for at least 15 years. Will upload some pictures when I get a chance.

WOODSNAKE you still stick to film?

I still have film loaded on my Minolta 7000 AF camera. I have three roles to develop. The easiest way to achieve scanned copies on CD is to develop and get it scanned at High resolution. I don't take prints. The cost comes to Rs 40 (dev) + Rs. 70 (Scan + CD). The file size is 6 MB which is pretty good for the price.

Digital spoils you and makes you impatient, Unlike film, where you wait for a good shot. Digital is instant.

I would continue shooting till the film is available.

      ciao

TKuttan, which Film SLR & lenses you have used ? Sriharsha, what lenses do you have?

I was using Yashica Film camera and then bought this Minota 7000 and later bought a 1975 XD-7 for Rs. 2.5K (camera + 50mm 1.7, 70-210mm f3.5 & flash). XD-7 has such a fanatic following on flickr. Leica R4 was based in XD body. Coming to lenses, Rokkor lenses are supposed to be very good. I have a collection of 28mm f3.5, 35mm f2.8, 50mm f1.7, 135 mm f 2.8, 300mm f8 Mirror lens, 2x adapter and am getting a 500mm mirror lens. I will be using them on my NEX5.

i am sorry. the cam which i have is not the X700. but its the XG 1. the lens i have is the normal 50mm lens. here are some of the "pics of my cam"

EDIT: lately have been using my sony P&S and have not been using this SLR cam since the last 5-6 years because of the high cost of getting the prints. now i think i'll follow what WOODSNAKE has told and will directly get the cd's.
