      Lightbulb 2003 Santro ZipPlus Restoration

Well Some people know me,my car and my issues

For others i have santro 2003 zipplus white color clocked about 69k. i bought as used and it clocked 65k then.

I believe there is some sentimental thing which is not working good for me and my car. Initially i thought of selling the car and buying a new car but i thought about new loan etc which dint allow me in that direction.

      Reasons for sentimental ,

So far did full general service and did complete overhaul of AC and replaced disc pads . Costing 10k

Engine tuning and some niggle issues solving 1200

Fuel Pump motor replacement and dent in bumper removal 1850.

Silencer end pipe plus one shock absorber bush 700.

replaced one of the cut tire used by dealer for used tire 800

      ICE 10k

      Replaced battery 3k

Got caught by cops 5 times. 4 small accidents.

      one mirror change 150

This is essentially should not be included in cost but still some sticker works. some interior things , wheel cap etc etc for 7k

All this in less than 6 months.

So decided to give a complete new look to my car and probably restore it as good as new santro and do all sorts of pooja for good future of the car.

Im listing down the points i have in my mind please let me know you suggestions and possibility of doing it.

      1. Engine is very good but still gonna do complete check on clutch and on AC and other pulley bearings etc (Good shops ?)

      2. Get used alloys for around ~=6k

      3. Change to Art Leather seats. ~= 3k

      4. Full repaint to metallic white. I thought of metallic brown or Grey but due to RC formalities im sticking to white itself. (Good shops ?)

Open to you guys for suggestions and tips.

Wow you went thru all this in 4000 kms you are better off not selling it.
If you can manage the RC formalities the brown paint you mentioned would've looked really beautiful. Do full service and some big pooja too. At 69K you still have a new car which can run the same miles further.

Best of luck rajesh on the rejuvenation treatment of your car

Well last time I heard, conversion from white to any color is easy, but conversion from any other color to white is very difficult, RTO just hates these jobs...
Other than that, why don't you just use it as it is, get a pooja done at the "Bodyguard Munneswaran" temple near central bridge, more than 70% of vehicles go there after purchase...

Then will stick to metallic white. No one will able to differentiate it and still it will be white. Yes will do for sure.

Most cars I know don't come in Metallic white. All cars sold in India are non-metallic or they come in a shade called Pearl White. I think harrie will be able to explain in detail how its to be done.

Coming to the formalities, you first need to get permission from the RTO for the colour change. Then report back to them and get it endorsed in the RC book. Can't find the procedure on the RTO website either, better thing to do would be to approach the RTO directly and find out the forms and the fees required.

OK found out color change is not so hard. Just inform them in writing about the change in color. After change endorse it in the RC with a fee of Rs 500 - as said by a guy who changed his m800 from white to orange . The white is indeed pearl white and not exactly the metallic stuff you get in other colors and you wont notice a difference unless you are looking closely.

AGN : That what was told to me by a driver, he said like, white to any color is easy, but any other color to white is difficult because it relates to TRAVELS and GOVT. vehicles, So okay, new thing learned today

Not true. Pearl White comes with gold flakes in it. One can distinguish it very easily from the normal non-metallic white paint. Swift comes with these golden flakes which can be easily noticed even from a distance. Other cars that I have noticed that have a pearl white shade is the new Altis.
