      Auxiliary lamps for A-Star

I am planning to fit OEM fog lamps. The dealer is quoting 4000 bucks with labour. Is it worth it? The fog lamp is of Lumax brand. There is a provision at the bottom. Attached the sample car fitted with fog lamps taken from the web.

Should I go for this or should I go for better brands like Hella? I am not aware of any places to fit the same. Please help me with this.

      Hi Chandru,

What I feel is, these aux light in practical help very less in adding usable light for night drives. But make the car look nice and also creates bit aggression (like, people would give way more easily when there are more lights zooming towards them ). Dealer quote always would be much more than the accessory shops outside. Worth you check that.
If you need more driving light, better check options like hella etc. There are few threads and posts from knowledged friends on the forum about it somewhere there.

FYI.... I was at Evo (Satya) at Cambridge layout few days back. Fog light of his Ikon was too good, really was bright and able to light the road! It is a combination of unbranded reflector assembly and HID. I asked him if he sells similar ones and his answer was yes.
      Hope that helps.

Thanks for the inputs Shyam. I already have Philips Rally 100/90W headlamps. Found it very useful for night and highway driving. Since i am driving to Ghat sections frequently, I am in need aux. lights for better lighting.

If you are planning for aux lights then please stick with reputed brands.....Chinese ones and local ones are not that much useful and it is utter waste of money.

Reason - Chines ones and local ones are not tightly packed so if you drive your car in watter logged roads then water would enter the lamps and spoil it....net net your bulb will fuse and internal reflector will form rust and become useless...hope it helps

i second that. since you drive at ghat sections, it would be better if you could get aux lights which are usually mounted at the front on a bull bar. but i don't know how whether this is possible/will look good on a small car like A-star.

and always go for a branded one. chinese ones either stop working sooner or do not give out adequate light.

Also check Premium Light Micro-DE Shop4Hella.com - AUXILLIARY LIGHTS DE Line
please. This might look good also if you are trying to mount on fog light's place.
Not sure how much space available behind the bumper in foglight slot to adapt this on A-Star. So please check it.

Boss why do you have a doubt here?? Fix it in the fog lamp area I say, is it not provisioned for it?? Would you want to cut your bumper and fix it in some other place.....

To be frank....Fog lamps have lost its sole purpose and have become cosmetic add-ons nowadays.....For our Indian climatic condition Fog lamp will not serve its purpose.....though keep your fingers crossed....with current global climatic change....you never know how our climate will change

the dia of these lights are 163mm according to the info provided on the website. just see if you could accomodate these in the OE fog lights place which i highly doubt.
