Squid - ASS is not a big reason for this dismal numbers.....TML is still able to sell good numbers with their age old models. Q is the problem and only Fiat can take a call on this and not TATA

P.S. - I created this thread especially for you

Like I mentioned earlier, Tata are definitely doing a better job than Fiat were. Look at how the sales figures have grown from the past. I would definitely credit a lot of that to the alliance with Tata.

And that man, knows how to run his business... I don't think we need to teach him

Infosys Technologies Ltd. (500209.BY) and the Tata Group have topped a list of India's leading corporate brands, far ahead of global giants such as Apple Inc. according to a recent report by a London-based company.

India's biggest motor manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (532500.BY), is ranked number four, followed by engineering giant L****n & Toubro Ltd. (500510.BY).

A$$ is a problem my friend. When I say A$$, I mean the whole gamble of it - including spares price and availability, quality of servicing, ability to diagnose and rectify faults, etc.
And well, I know there are problems outside of it too - they have made such a bad image for themselves that their sales team is just not able to drive the numbers.
LOL about the last statement though - Well, I'm reading news about Fiat now, but not for long.

mclaren1885 - Dude, why are you quoting only some parts of my message? What you've replied to - is what I've said in my message, the line that you didn't quote. I never said Tata cars or A$$ were bad. (PS: They are pathetic, but I'll say they are good just for you. Did you ever get your vehicle serviced at a Tata? I think you should, it's wonderful experience) I think you're taking this way too OT. And I also don't think that Fiat will ever tie-up with an active car maker in India. When I mean active, I'm referring to how Toyota tied up with a sleeping partner Kirloskar for Etios.

And number game is good dude, but you've to understand what models are getting sold? Everyone argued in the previous thread about how Tata is awesome and how they got JLR technology and built amazing cars and all. Now, how many Arias are selling? And about robust Tata technology, how many cars have actually run more than 1.5L kms? How many truly passenger cars have been sold?

Now, with the above two points well established, why do people keep commenting with the same messages in different statement formulation? I don't understand.

      March - 98.
      April - 286.
      May - 37.
Source: Indianautosblog and Tata press release.

I think the numbers are pretty decent, given that Tata has entered the market with quite an expensive vehicle. Will take time for the public to put their money down on an expensive Tata. Just the same way Kizashi is a brilliant vehicle but not many would like to spend so much on a Suzuki in India. Such vehicles cater to a different segment of buyer and might not set the sales charts on fire.

And about robust Tata technology, how many cars have actually run more than 1.5L kms? How many truly passenger cars have been sold?
Well almost all the taxis are, apparently! If that is an indication to go by?

And what exactly do you mean by truly passenger cars?

We owned a Tata Indica DLS if you didn't know, sold it off sometime in 2006/2007 IIRC. So been there done that, don't remember having any major issues with TASS

Edit: We also had 3 Tata Estates, 1 Sierra (that is still lying at our farm) too. So, you have something else to say?

Actually no, quite far from it. I was just stating that I have experienced Tata A.S.S 1st hand since you asked me to. Obviously, seems like that retort (of have you experienced it before you advise me) back fired on you

Though its quite irritating to see Fiat fanboys keep blaming everything/everyone else while a major problem lies with Fiat themselves.

Maybe, you need to take a look at these posts again....

A pathetic insult often used by fanboys themselves to try and put down people who don't like whatever it is they like.

An arrogant person who goes into an outburst every time something he likes is questioned. Fanboys usually accuse others of being fanboys.

How can we blame Fiat? They are doing what they're good at.
They open their wine bottle. A few drinks later they look at their design and say "Aaahh, daat izz goood. Now feex zee engine and other beets" .
They take a TD with the half a bottle of wine in their tummy and one wine glass in their hand and say "Aaaahhh, daat izz goood. See the way it handles. Deed not drop a beet" .
Competition setup going active soon ;)

I thought so too. But everyone here turned me in to a Fiat fanboy - all of it.
I think Fiat has made a negative image that will take a lot of hardwork to change.

I proposed a brilliant idea. Let Fiat be the sleeping partner and let all vehicles be sold as Tata vehicles.
That way it's amazing - you get a Tata Indigo Pee-nea, Tata IndiCab 507 (Fiat 500) and Tata Indica Pee-Lee-Yo.
      I will buy them
