Royal Enfield, the Indian lifestyle motorcycle maker, through its official Facebook page has confirmed that the Royal Enfield Classic Chrome 500 will be launched in India soon. That said, the exact dates when this motorcycle will be launched is something that isn’t known at the moment. By the looks of it though, this seems to be the next model Royal Enfield will launch for the Indian market.

More of a stylistic exercise, the Royal Enfield Classic Chrome was first unveiled at the 2010 Indian Auto Expo, following which it was launched in the American and European markets. Many prospective buyers have been eagerly asking about this motorcycle’s Indian launch, and finally Royal Enfield seems all set to give Indian Royal Enfield the option of buying this classy motorcycle.

Mechanically, the Royal Enfield Classic Chrome 500 is not dissimilar to the Classic 500 EFI as it shares the same 500cc, air cooled, pushrod based unit construction engine that produces a peak power of 27.2 Bhp at 5,250 rpm and peak torque of 41.3 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The fuel injected engine will be mated to a five speed transmission, although a non fuel injected 500cc motorcycle from Royal Enfield would be a good idea considering the fact that the Indian Bullets don’t come with the critical O2 sensor as a cost cutting measure.

While the export versions of the Classic Chrome 500 comes with 18 inch wheels, the Indian model could come with a 19 inch wheel up front for better high speed stability. Moving on to the cosmetic changes, the Classic Chrome gets dollops of chrome all around. The front mudguard, the fuel tank, the air box and the rear mudguard get chrome plated to give the Classic Chrome terrific street presence.

I don't understand how a company can sell the same looking bike in different colors , add a few drops of chrome and rename the bike and sell at a premium?

walk into the enfield showroom and all the bikes look the same, the only difference is either a 350cc Motor or the 500cc Motor. The overall look of the bike is the same..

I don't see nothing new in this paint scheme. This is how the Machismo AVL series used to roll out of production with the difference being the paint strip in both mud gaurds.

Point - If HD, Indian can survive for centuries, so will RE. There're always fan for such motorcycles & it is that keeps them moving & that's the difference between a biker & a rider.

Personally I love the classic looks of RE, its just that the bike lacks a twin cylinder keeps me putting off to buy.

point noted... but my question was.. why are the companies still selling the same stuff under a new coat of paint, all the bullets look the same from front till you read whats written on the sides.
except for the 500cc City Bike or Thunderbird as you guys call it now.

Same thing Goddy; there're people who would do anything to own it & they live with RE. I personally know a gentleman in the mid at my locality who has a RE that can challenge the looks with any new RE out of the showroom. He spends too much time at garage (beats me ) & quite surprising that his wife still is with him!!!

We demand for certain things, but those people are willing to live with the problems. He has a model that was registered some 21-22 yrs ago (beats my Rx) & those had leaky cylinder heads & he has fixed them. He made some custom parts made out of brass that you can't find anywhere in the RE stores. You've to hear his RE idling & at every power stroke you'll feel that the engine is going to die, but it wouldn't; so slow idling yet very punchy. So its that cult & passion that still keeps the company moving & not like people you & me.

And ofcourse, there're some new entrants who buy RE without knowing what they could expect. Some of them buy a C5 thinking its 500 cc & can beat a N250R
