      3 step doors .. I hate them

For some reason I hate the 3 step door action on some of the cars.. My family is so used to the indica doors that they can open it full with one go.. but in my new car, the doors get stuck.. Some how I dont like this setup on the doors.. Do others feel the same.

I actually like the 3-step action. I experienced it first with my old Palio and I miss it a lot on my current Swift.

I like how I have control over the door without it swinging open wide onto oncoming traffic (on the driver's side) when I open it with stuff in my hands (I can just open the door lock and knee it open). Also, more inportantly, on the passenger side, it prevents the passenger from opening it wiiiiiiide without looking for obstructions first (happens all the time now on the Swift).

I see the value.. but people used to the full door open .. complain about it..when you open the door and since the door edge stops exactly at the height of your eyes.. and this becomes very dangerous.. my wife and a collegue of mine got hurt b'cos of this so called value add..

I've gotten hit on the jaw and neck so many times by the top corner of the palio door, its not funny

I mean , if you want the door to open a little, push it a little, if you want it wide, push it wide.
what you dont want is, giving it a shove and the damn thing swinging back in your face.
It would have been ok if it was a swift door swinging into my face, but the palio tank doors are heavy, and carry a lot of momentum.

worse is, when you're parking in a narrow space, and you dont want the door to swing too far, you want it to stop at a point in between 2 of the 3 stages. not possible. that door has a mind of its own. it will dent itself against a wall or wit will dent the neighbouring car. not fun, either ways. those things are a menace.

      EDIT-
@hydra-YOU have no control over the 3 stage door. The door controls you

Louis, I know what you mean, but once you get the hang of it, you will realize it is a blessing in disguise. My wife used to be very upset with the Accord doors (even heavier than the 'tank' ) initially, but now, she finds it very handy, say when we have a kid on her lap and she has to open the door just enough to hand him over to me before getting down. It helps because we know the door will not swing back and hurt anyone once it is locked on it's half-position. The Indica does not work that way, we have to open it fully, makes it worse if this is on the road-facing side.

I love the 3-step doors, feel it is only a minor adjustment/acustomization issue, that we do not want to do. Hydra had discovered the joys of that...

I had the palio for a year. never got acclimatized. probably because i was also using an M800 and an MM540 at the same time. I used to get knocked out on a daily basis

Ouch! that would have hurt, and explains why you hate them. Wonder why we do not have the same feelings towards our wives whom we can neither figure out nor stop getting bashed up

I love it on inclines and busy roads. But hate it while parking close to walls/cars
