Nissan Sunny Diesel bookings open .

Nissan today opened up bookings for the Sunny diesel model. In an email received by IAB Nissan shared the vehicle’s spec sheet and press release describing the launch comprehensively. The car comes in two variants with a 1.5-liter CRDI engine paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Ex-showroom prices for Delhi for the Sunny diesel
Rs 7,98,000 (XL) (1.1 lakh over the XL petrol variant)
Rs 8,78,000 (XV) (1.1 lakh over the XV petrol variant)

It is powered by a 1.5-liter 4cylinder K9K diesel engine, borrowed from the Micra but produces a much better 86PS @ 3,750 RPM and 200 Nm @ 2000 rpm . The mileage stands at an impressive 21.64 kmpl (ARAI certified). It is impressively spec-ed too with the both diesel variants equipped with ABS brakes, EBD, Brake Assist besides the driver side Airbag.

Priced pretty well...Nissan has interior space as their selling point, what Nissan needs to do is revamp their their marketing network. I some how feel that the lag behind in marketing their products, even for Sunny Petrol there was not enough advertisement.

      There was only Carrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr advertisement

Even i felt that they lagging in marketing.

They need to add more banners and more advertisement techniques to make out in the market really well.

Since they have very good engine i guess they are not prefering in the marketing strategy ?

The diesel version is grossly over priced by atleast 1 lakh. The engine does not look spectacular atleast on paper and there are much better options available in the market. I would say 6.99L would have been a perfect entry price and would have pushed the sunny the XUV way.

I don't think the Sunny is that bad, compared to the Vento or Verna or Rapid.
But yes, 7.98L for the diesel puts it right between the Vento and the Rapid base and near bout the Verna. As such with little price diff and not a really renowned package to offer, Sunny d might struggle.

Sunny has a renowned engine and offers acres of interiors space which should be their selling point...but again price is on the higher side.... they should have priced little less if they really want to gain some market share and create some wave in the market

Well Vento, Rapid and Verna might be a contender but others are relatively old. Verna has huge waiting period and Rapid is relatively new...I am not sure whether Vento is readily available.

camchennai - SHOC - 8 valve primitive engine isn't that impressive on paper. If they had all the 3 variants such as XE, XL & XV spaced at 80k above petrol variant then it would have been bang for the buck and they would have struggled to keep up the demand, much like brio/AHNC or even the fludic verna. But I feel nissan has missed the trick, sunny doesnt look the premium.
