Ok. I was under the impression that it's early for replacement. Is this linked to car/manufacturer or to the driving pattern? How do we know when to replace the brake pads? My Vista has done 30K and I haven't done any replacement so far.

It depends a lot on your driving style and traffic condiditons.
At 30k I'll say you're brake pads are probably nearing their end.

Run about 12,600 and still have about 60% pad life left according to what I noticed at the last service at 10,000kms. A lot depends on the place where you live and the roads you live. eccentricloner lives in Kerala and drives through some awesome roads where a lot of braking is involved. So not surprised his pads wear out quick.

Also, stopping a 1.6 ton+ car that puts out 150PS is going to take a lot out of the brakes. Almost every ownership report I've read on the Cruze owners have changed their pads around the 15k mark.

Generally brake pads will be checked by during service. Disc brake pads have a piece of metal on them called a wear indicator. When enough of the friction material is worn away, the wear indicator will contact the disc and make a squealing sound. http://gearheads.in/showthread.php?3...wear+indicator

Yes, It depends on road conditions, driving style and vehicle. I drive mostly on ghats roads and I am not a sedate driver. Our Viva CRDi also had low brake pad life ( between 20K and 25K).

      Honda Amaze D EX-MT
      Wheel cap - Rs 861
Nut Bolts - Rs 290 each
So putting up wheel caps on all 4 tyres will cost Rs 8084.

As you would have imagined by now that I had cancelled the plan of putting up wheels caps and immediately left the service center without uttering a single word
