      FIAT - Tata Divorce - Dealerships. Now it is official

      The separation of the dealerships of FIAT from Tata is now official. FIAT will have their own network for sales, showroom and support starting from the bigger cities.

      This move could go either ways.
      If the quality of service offered is just like the QC department in their factory, they've had it. It wouldn't take long for them to shut down the shop in India and would only be providing engines to other companies.

      Its high time now that they concentrate and get their QC to a whole new level. With the 2012 models they have done something really good and can definitely sell cars provided they become customer centric and offer quality A.S.S.

      I think it should work well. I remember when I went to look for the Linea at the Tata-Fiat Showroom, it was all chaos and haywire. Although my attendant, who was initially late, was kinda good; the overall ambiance and environment of the place was a bad turn off.
      With their own Showrooms they can now display their pretty little cars nicely and not be sidelined/overshadowed by bulky monsters (Safari/Sumo)

      Tata have a huge baggage. Their old Truck dealers wanted and were given car franchises. Old habits die hand, and a can owner requires a different type of attention. Also, a lot of mechanics are the old Truck grease monkeys, which does not help either.

      Now one will have to see how much of a clean break does FIAT achieve. I heard that VW went scouting for Honda dealers and not the (obvious) Skoda dealers.

      This can work in your favour as well. I once stopped at a Tata LCV / Truck ASC at Chikkaballapur, KA for an issue in my 3.0 Safari. The mechanic was completely at home looking at the engine bay

      Fiat is misleading Indian customers!!!

      Fiat is asking all existing TATA dealers to open new showroom with a separate display area and service center. In other words...asking same morons to work from different place with different dress code.

      Now what change will this make or change in Fiat A.S.S.

      ONLY CHANGE I SEE HERE IS THAT CUSTOMER HAS TO WALK-IN TO ANOTHER SHOWROOM WHEN HE DOES HIS SHOPPING!! AND I DOUBT WHETHER THESE SEPARATE SHOWROOM'S WILL HAVE MORE FOOTFALLS WHAT THEY USED TO HAVE EARLIER WHEN THEY WERE MARRIED WITH TATA. SICK IDEA FIAT

      I hate to admit but I think its Fiat has woken up too late in India. They have been here since stone age and still their sales numbers are nothing to talk about. Late entrants in India have managed to get more sales than Fiat.

      Normal buyers in India don't even have Fiat on their wishlist now. So the perception has already been made and its hard to break now.

      Though I will be happy to be proven wrong.
