Ford Fiesta Classic TDCI(2012) Colorado Red - Long term Ownership Report Update @ 100000Kms

      Buying Decision:

My requirements were quite clear. It had to be a Diesel Sedan. Should comfortably seat 4 people. Decent power. Decent FE. Budget : 8L -9L OTR. The following cars were considered.

      1.Ford Fiesta Classic
2.Fiat Linea ( Dad was not happy with his car because of ASS)
3.Toyota Etios ( Dint like the looks.Specially the interiors)
4.Swift D ( Dint like the new swift Dzire model + Waiting period)
5.Skoda Rapid ( Dint check this car.Thought it would be expensive)
6.Verito ( Dint like the looks)

      Booking Experience (27-02-2012) :

Went to near by Ford Showroom ( Chennai Ford, Arumbakam) , test drove the car , Was very satisfied with it got the invoice , negotiated discounts , booked the car. The color we chose was Colorado Red. Dealer informed that it would take a week to get the car. So left the showroom. Next day arranged for loan , Got approved in 3 days. Went to the dealer and finalized on the additional accessories going in the car.

Cost(Before discounts) : Ford Fiesta CLXI TDCI 1.4 On Road Price - 8,40,000
Ltd Edition Pack - 30,000 ( Alloys + Fogs + some add ons)
Huper Optics Tints -11000 ( Incl Windshield)

      Delivery(07/03/2012):

Reached the showroom by 4.00PM. (Bunked office for two days ) . Car was waiting there. All accessories added. Looked awesome. Did all the delivery formalities ,pooja etc. Sales rep gave us demo of all features in the car. Drove straight to a temple near by home. Did pooja again
ODO meter reading at time of delivery was 60. DTE - 75 . They gave us some 5liters diesel coupons to fill up in the nearby pump. Tanked up the car. (41 Liters) DTE took some time to calibrate . It should some 750Kms.

      04-04-2012 :

Car has done 3900 Kms as on date. Not a single problem till date. Giving me a constant mileage between 15-17.
Initally i was shifting between 3000-3500 RPM just to feel the power of a diesel. Now a days more sedate driving. Shifting at 2K. Not reving it too much.

The maximum speed i have take it is 140. I am not sure if i would push it more for now. Looks like it will redline if i touch 160. So going easy on it for now.

Car doesnt handle the pothholes as much as i would want it to. It is quite hard. But has not hit the underbody scratches till now even with full load. Should try going over the unscientific speed breakers.

Since this is the first time am driving a diesel , i am yet to master it. Co-Passengers are feeling a jerk whenever i am shifting. Should try to smoothen the gear changes.
Running 30PSI all round with stock tyres. Not planning to change the tyres as of now. It is doing a good job.

      Few pics of my car:

WildWeasel, Congrats on your buy. Enjoy the drive... Wish you happy miles ahead.
Time to modify your Garage section here.

That was a fast ownership report I have read.

There is no point to be sedate anymore & you can take it over 140Km/hr.

I believe Diesel engines won't redline like that & they are programmed to avoid redlining as well as you may not be able to see the redline mark in the Tacho.
And regarding touching 160Km/hr... You can do it around 3500-4000 RPM or so. Not remember the exact figures which I have done in my Figo TDCi.

Isnt this a Fiesta , are the gear ratios and the engine trims same for both the Figo TDCI and the Fiesta TDCI ?? If it is not then how will the RPMs match on both vehicles ?

Am not sure if they both have the same gear ratios. Yes they both produce same power on paper. But the additional weight makes the figo faster than a stock fiesta. Atleast thats what i noticed while driving the figo (<10Kms).

Yeah, he is having a Fiesta. Figo & Fiesta share the same 1.4 engine but I learned from Mustang.101 that slight tuning is done for Figo.
Still I believe that it won't make much difference in the RPM levels.

Congrats macha! That color on the Fiesta looks awesome. And you'll be glad you bought the Fiesta D, the more you drive it.

And shift around the 2.5k mark, not at 2k. Also go through the "Driving a Diesel" thread for more tips.

Evolution88 - Diesels redline quite easily. Most diesels are geared such that they can even redline in 5th.
